MORE THAN BASEBALL

The Flint Jackson Park Youth League (FJPYBL) was established in 2016 to develop and bring youth baseball to the neighborhoods on the North side of Flint. Youth are encouraged to achieve academic success in school and to always exhibit positive behavior. Mentoring and tutoring are available, if requested.

An educational component on leadership skills is also added to the program to build future leaders. Steven Covey’s “Leader in Me” 7 Habits” are utilized weekly for assignments. Youth are asked to tell how each habit can be applied in their lives and baseball.

Youth are encouraged to participate in local educational events, especially at the Flint Public Library. Students who complete assignments are rewarded with special gifts at the end of the season. Computers, tablets, bikes and gift cards will be given for rewards.

The success of the program is strongly dependent on family participation and volunteerism. Volunteers must agree to a background check.
